When the first translation of the Arabian Nights was spreading in Europe at the beginning of 18th century, a new tendency of taste for Turkey, Persia and Egypt was born with the painter and traveler Alberto Pasini (Busseto 1826- Cavoretto 1899) as one of the most refined exponents.  Alberto Pasini’s history includes other stories, paintings like travel journals, unimaginable horizons  in which the spectator can lose himself.

The display shows the complete collection of forty drawings made in Persia, the series of twelve engravings published in the “Illustration, Journal Universel”  with the articles of Barbier de Meynard and Paulin and the great paintings, rare examples of the artist’s big dimensions works. A second section is dedicated to the works made in Instanbul, while a following section is dedicated to the scenes of oriental customs and practices. Furthermore, the display shows for the first time big dimensions works from international museums, which were never exposed before.
