DETAILS

Arturo Toscanini was born in Parma 1867 and entered the Royal School of Music at the age of nine, graduating in cello and composition at 18 years old. He started his career as a conductor immediately after, becoming one of the greatest performers of all times.

His birthplace, a modest house on the west side of the river has been turned into a museum in 1967, when his children donated it to the town.

In the small rooms is a collection of relics and records gathered from the houses he lived in, retracing a career that tranformed a man of humble origins into a myth in the field music.

In a special room the Aureliano Pertile Foundation displays some pieces giving evidence of the close relation between Toscanini and the famous tenor.
